Der upgecycelte Kleiderbügel CYCL wird aus alten Fahrradreifen hergestellt. Das Projekt zielt darauf ab, den Kunden für einen bewussteren Konsum zu sensibilisieren. Der CYCL zeigt die Verantwortung von Kunden und Produzenten auf. Dank des Baukastenprinzips kann der Bügel durch das Lösen der Naht leicht in seine Einzelteile zerlegt werden. Das Reifenmaterial sorgt zudem für eine hohe Rutschfestigkeit und Flexibilität und damit für Platzersparnis. In Zusammenarbeit mit Swapfiets, wurde aus den charakteristischen blauen Reifen eine fiktive Kooperation. Die Bügel können als Werbeartikel an öffentlichen Orten wie Cafés, auf Messen und in Flagship-Stores eingesetzt werden. Der QR-Code auf der Rückseite des Etiketts kann mit einer beliebigen Website verlinkt werden, um die Nutzenden über den Hintergrund des Produkts zu informieren. Wir nutzen diesen Platz, um die Botschaft des „cycl“ zu erklären. Unsere verlinkte Website informiert den Kunden über das bisherige Leben des Fahrradreifens, seine Herstellung aus fossilen Ressourcen, das schlussendliche Upcycling und seine neue Funktion. Auch über die Reparatur und anschließende ordnungsgemäße Entsorgung, kann sich hier informiert werden.

The upcycled clothes hanger CYCL is made from old bicycle tires. The project aims to sensitize customers to more conscious consumption. Thanks to the modular principle, the handlebar can be easily dismantled into its individual parts by loosening the seam. The tire material also ensures high slip resistance, flexibility and thus space savings. In collaboration with Swapfiets, the characteristic blue tires were turned into a fictitious cooperation. The hoops can be used as promotional items in public places such as cafés, at trade fairs and in flagship stores. The QR code on the back of the label can be linked to any website to inform the user about the background of the product. We use this space to explain the message of the “cycl”. Our linked website informs the customer about the previous life of the bicycle tire, its production from fossil resources and the final upcycling and its new function. Ziel des Projektes, war es anhand des Entwurfes eines Kleiderbügels, den Designprozess eines Objektes von der Konzeption über die Materialwahl, das Prototypen bis hin zur finalen Vermarktung durchzuspielen. Nach einer Marktrecherche und Analyse der zahlreichen Kleiderhänger Produkte auf dem Markt entschieden wir, dass eine weitere Variante Mehrwert vermitteln sollte. In diesem Fall recherchierten wir Materialien, die anfallen aber nicht weiter genutzt werden bzw. in der Entsorgung Kosten verursachen und stießen auf den Fahrradreifen. In der Fahrradstadt Münster fällt hiervon viel Material an, welches kostenlos genutzt werden kann. Um möglichst viele Bestandteile der Reifen nutzen zu können, wird dieser in seine Einzelkomponenten zerlegt. Der finale Entwurf nutzt somit möglichst viele der Original Reifenteile. Lediglich der Haken, die Naht und zwei Verschlusskappen, werden hinzugefügt. Die Teile werden ineinander gesteckt. Durch das Lösen der Naht kann der Kleiderhänger dementsprechend in seine Einzelteile zerlegt und recycelt bzw. entsorgt werden.

The aim of the project was to use the design of a coat hanger to run through the design process of an object from conception to material selection, prototyping and final marketing. After researching the market and analyzing the numerous coat hanger products on the market, we decided that a further variant should convey added value. In this case, we researched materials that accumulate but are no longer used or generate disposal costs and came across bicycle tires. In the cycling city of Münster, there is a lot of this material that can be used free of charge. In order to be able to use as many parts of the tire as possible, it is broken down into its individual components. The final design therefore uses as many of the original tire parts as possible. Only the hook, the seam and two caps are added. The parts are inserted into each other. By loosening the seam, the clothes hanger can be disassembled into its individual parts and recycled or disposed of.
